Coaching Academy on Investment Readiness for entrepreneurs in Utrecht

On Thursday 14th April 2016, entrepreneurs took a step further in becoming investment ready with the InvestHorizon Coaching Academy organized by the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce on behalf of EUROCHAMBRES and InvestHorizon.

The Academy took place during the ‘Week van de Ondernemer’ in Utrecht. One of the largest events for entrepreneurs in the Netherlands, organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Synpact, Chamber of Commerce, Rabobank, RVO, MKB Nederland with more than 10.000 visitors yearly. The Academy gathered 12 entrepreneurs with 6 coaches and 2 investors from the private equity and banking sector. It started with an introduction to the InvestHorizon Programme followed by two keynote speakers.

  • Anthony Viellevoye, Investment Manager at Start Green Capital, who introduced the participants in the world of risk financing. He explained how a Venture Capital investor can be convinced to invest.

  • Jacques Peeters, team leader SME Financing at Rabobank Utrecht, who explained how Bank financing works: what are the determinants for an entrepreneur to successfully obtain support from banks.

The participants directly put the theory learned into practice in the table sessions, actually they had the opportunity to receive feedback on their preparations, business plan and pitch both from other participants and a skilled business coach.

The Coaching Academy was concluded by three-minute investment pitches, where each of the Businesses tried to convince coaches and investors. The coaches and investors offered them relevant feedback to structure their pitch, become more convincing or how to include a clear proposition responding to investors’ expectations.

The Academy was also the opportunity for entrepreneurs to learn from each other and exchange bests practices.
After the Coaching Academy, the businessmen participated in the ‘Week van de Ondernemer’ it offered them the opportunity to exchange with a large amount of financing providers, such as Crowdfunding platforms, the Business Angels Network Netherlands (BAN), Netherlands Association for Private Equity (NVP), Association for Leasing (NVL), Credit Unions, Spotcap, and many more.
