October - What's up for fundraising startups?

Fundraising can be frustrating and hard, however it is vital to know when and what fish is there waiting for you. This article will briefly run you through the main innitiatives, accelerators and events that could be exactly the fish you have been waiting for. Not all of them will neccesarily bring you money right away but some of the events could lead you to exposure and so financial success. Let’s start with accelerators and competitions in Europe and beyond as they are definitely not the fish to be missed:

Startup Bootcamp, the number 1 accelerator in Europe, has got a lot to offer. 10 selected teams will go through an intensive 3-month long programme in Barcelona, where they will work with 100+ mentors, coaches, partners and investors to build the next generation of products, services and companies. The IoT and Smart Data is the space the applying entrepreneurs or small business companies should be working in. This programme is committed to find, fund, coach, and grow the most promising and ambitious ones out there. Another big name such as IBM has joined their powers together with 4YFN, AT&T, KPN, Rogers Communications, and Vodafone in order to introduce the Global Mobile Innovators Tournament: 15 virtual Challenges, five regional Demo Days and 1 Grand Finale. They are aiming to tackle some of the world’s most challenging problems by developing robust Internet of Things mobile applications with IBM Bluemix and a choice of multiple APIs. The challenge themes are Smart Homes and Buildings, Connected Travel & Transportation and Smarter Healthcare. In addition to the opportunity to pitch investors at mobile world congress, potential revenue from commercialisation of contestants’ applications, meetings with private investors, media coverage, business meetings, and so on and so forth, they also offer four free passes for 4YFN 2016, the shared use of two startup demo booths at 4YFN 2016, for show-casing Tournament applications and more to the finalists. One more competition, which is globally accessible, will be held in the US - The Extreme Tech Challenge. As they put it, they ‘aim to "lower the friction to your success" by providing exposure and capital to accelerate scaling of your product with free infrastructure and other start-up boosters from world class vendors.’ Well are they any different then? Oh yes. Fun is a big part of this all: you compete LIVE on stage at the world's largest consumer electronics show in Las Vegas, CES, and the cherry on the cake is the chance to pitch Sir Richard Branson on his private Necker Island.

In addition to the accelerator programmes and the competitions above, there are some worth-checking events taking place this month too.

EU-Startups is hosting a EU-Startups Conference in Berlin, which is an annual event where a selection of Europe’s hottest startups is showcased and where people come together to learn from some of the most successful European entrepreneurs of our time. Some of the speakers are CEOs and founders and they come from companies such as, Quizclash etc. As a part of the even there will be Startup accelerator panel and Pitch competition.

The Digital Tech Summit, an initiative of the Tech Tour and the International Venture Club, will focus on showcasing the best investment opportunities within the digital industry in Europe.
